Carlos Antonio Pokorny
Carlos Antonio Pokorny passed away on May 17, 2018 at his residence in Kearns, Utah at the age of 79. He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on October 16, 1938 to Jose Juan Pokorny and Alida Ferreira de Pokorny. After being educated in Uruguay, he moved to the United States in his early 20s and became a citizen in 1983. He worked at various jobs throughout his lifetime including construction, seaman mechanic (his favorite job), a worker in the foundry industry, and his most recent employment as a Walmart Associate. Reading, drawing, music, poetry and folklore were Carlos’ passions. He was married to Maria Cristina Berta for several years, but later divorced. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Edith Pokorny de Gonzalez. Carlos is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Herb) Pokorny Robertson, his niece Adriana Gonzalez, nephew Byron (Aimee) Robertson, seven great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 2 PM with a viewing one hour prior.
